For the Minnekahta Guild the gal who won the blocks for the monthof November was Jan and she has requested Christmas blocks. Any size, any colors, anything goes. For one of her blocks I seen this Santa Face on Quilters Cache and thought it would be perfect. Now you will notice that his nose, his santa hat yo yo and his eyes are just pinned on(this is intentional) I thought they should be added after quilting to make the quilter have an easier time of quilting.
Jan's Christmas Block
This little Santa is almost done(I just noticed that he needs his eyebrows quilted in). This is one of three I started last year and just finished up this #2, it is a pattern called"Nine Patch Santa" by Happy Hollow Designs. I am thinking of adding some sparkle snowflakes embellishments to his hatand do need to pick up some glasses for him(though I will run out to the shop their has to be wire left over from something out there). He is made using the Fusible Quick Grid product which really made putting his hat colors together.(Right at the moment the way I have his eyes pinned he looks a little grumpy...kind of like I have been feeling with this hacking cold hmmmm.....)

I just had to share these next two pictures, the last few mornings I have happened to be looking out at the right time and just had to snap the camera. These are taken out our front view off the deck.

Then I have ordered my "Christmas/Birthday Gift/New Years" or whatever you may want to call it. This is a Judy Neimeyer pattern and kit. I just loved the color scheme so yep we ordered it.
Glacier Star
Glacier Star
It is a paper pieced pattern and am so ready to receive it and get started. I am in the process of doing another one of Judy's patterns but will keep it a secret for now.
Now on to the boy's and their toys part of this post..... This actually starts over a year ago with a thought and has came to this....... This first picture is a very innocent ("lol") of my twin boys and their recent birthday celebration of which they keep reminding me they are of "legal age" to get that drivers License and everything else that 14 yr. olds should and are able to do.(Help!!!!!! where did those two 3lb. and 4lb. babies go that we had to cut a diaper in half for because they were so small?????????)
Casey and his Banana Creme Birthday Pie
Yes, they did pick out what type of Cakes/Pies they wanted, now here I will add they "at times" are as opposite as they can get. One likes wranglers one likes loose fit, one likes orange one likes yellow and I could go on but you get the idea. Seriously though they are both wonderful! even though if one don't think of it the other will at some point.......Love them Dearly!
Which leads me to the "Toy"...... About a year ago one of these two came up with the idea that they needed a go-cart. Well, they seen them at Tractor Supply and a couple of other wonderful supply stores but much to their parents regret it was not a possible purchase. ("Are you kidding me 500.00-1000.00 for a toy that had a great possibility of ending them in the hospital"-I think not). So the not so happy guys decided that fine we'll make our own with "dads help". Thru the year they have found something here that could be a part, and something there that would work for this or that, an old garbage rack for a frame. A few months ago Carl decided was ready to start and get this thing going and finding another set of tires down at the ranch that "were perfect" in his words, well Dad not so much.. Now you must remember Bill works 50+ hours a week plus tons of other things on the side now we have kind of put this off for a couple of months so he finally decided OK. Carl did say that he would do it but needed his dad there to make sure he was welding it right(maybe that was the decision maker). Long story short, we now have a Go Cart, mind you it has no engine (as Carl reminds us daily that he needs one of them, as well as brakes and a clutch)For about two weeks it had no steering wheel or seat but Carl always managed to get Casey (Casey is our cc runner and Carl tells him it's good practice to keep in shape)to pull him around anyways. Well this last week they got the seat and steering wheel on and have decided now they need more power! The snow is yet deep enough here to make pulling tough. Now enters the 4 wheeler.....................
Casey & "No I don't want to ride I want to drive"
Yes, that is what is working for brakes at the moment.... tenny runners

All in all it has been a fun project for them and honestly I don't mind them not having a engine but they are saving and on the lookout for one as well as a clutch and brakes. (You always hear that their toys just get bigger-yep it's true- not so long ago match box cars and little loopy tracks was all that was needed)Then they just informed me last night they want to find a automatic pickup like Dad's stick shift deisel...............Okay now....... I know why the "Gray" seems to be getting brighter!!
Gotta Love'em Santa's and Boy's and their Toy's!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have a Blessed rest of the Week!!
Love the Santa's! The Judy Neimeyer kit is awesome. I love to look at them, but I know you have a lot more patience for paper piecing than I do!
ReplyDeleteLove the santa's. Very cute. That kit is beautiful. I can't wait to see it all completed.
ReplyDeleteHaving twin boys must be an adventure.
