37th Annual Black Hills Quilt Show

June 10, 11 and 12, 2011, at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, Rapid City 9 to 7 Friday (extended hours), 9 to 5 Saturday, 10 to 4 Sunday Admission: Free for BHQG members (must present membership card) $5 per day for adults or $10 for 3-day pass http://www.blackhillsquilters.org/.

Awards Banquet: Your printed ticket may say it’s June 12, but it is not! The event is Saturday night, June 11, upstairs in the civic center Alpine Room. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for cash bar. The menu includes Champagne chicken and chocolate cake. Elly Sienkiewicz will present a program on Baltimore appliqué quilts, followed by the reveal of the 2012 raffle quilt and announcement of awards. Tickets are $27 and available on Tuesday workdays ,monthly meeting, in some local quilt shops, or call Rhonda Jenner (341-4497).

Life.... and a Quilt Show...and more.......

Life has been VERY VERY Busy as of late..... Due to this I have decided rather than try to organize and sequence these pictures and post I will just do them..... As most of you know I have came down with this lovely Pleurisy and it has made my normal mode not work as well. What I mean by that is what I set out for myself to do and all that I want to accomplish doesn't necessarily get accomplished in the time zone I want it to. I have found that the cool rainy weather has been one of the WORST things for it. In turn it makes the breathing a little more difficult, which in turn makes the tiredness and whistling much more pronounced....
Now with that said..... I am praying for Sunshine and warmth! and yes I "normally Love the rain and it has been wonderful for the fields, pastures, and flowers but(and even here the rears it's head) enough is enough!!
Now on to the GOOD stuff.....

I was blessed to be able to attend the International Machine Quilters Showcase in Overland Park, Kansas a few weeks ago. What a BLAST! It was amazing and yet so Overwhelming! If you have never been there, it is one of those things you just gotta do. I too a few classes, visited a few vendors, and seen tons of beautiful Quilts. Our own Joann Hoffman, and Judith Woodworth's were Beautiful and won awards.

(I do recommend a GPS) ......that's another story in itself......lol

The next few pictures are of the quilts in the Show in Kansas.

and yeppers..I hope to return next year and take in some more of the show and classes....

This little guy is our newest family member......Yeah....I know

but how can you say no and deny this little guy?? His name is Rosco or the boys call him Rascal...take your pick he comes to both. He thinks he like to help pull weeds, and out of all my "guys" he is my "GUARANTEE" that I will be given a flower every day!! (he especially likes the Red Tulips)

In case you don't know, my other passion besides Quilting and animals is flowers and gardening. I decided back at Easter time that I was tired of cold and ect... so started hanging my flower baskets and getting the flower mode in gear. These few pictures are some of my additions to the front deck.....


They even survived our late blustery snowy morning......

In the BH Quilt Guild, in January we started doing friendship blocks. They are where you choose whatever block you would like someone to make for you, come up with the pattern and decide if you have any particular fabric choices, make them up in a kit and hand out when it is your month. This particular one above is one of those....

Well, I must run..... as anybody with teenagers know life is never dull!! I am being summoned that "Football Camp " starts in 30 minutes and we must still drive there......

Life has been extremely busy.....and full of Life happenings.....Not all good but not all bad just LIFE happening.....

5 Quilts Done

It has been a crazy couple of weeks but thru it all I have been able to continue quilting and what a blessing that has been.
I came down with a cold that turned kind of nasty. Just when I thought I was over it I started getting pains in my upper right side when breathing that continued to get worse and it has been determined that it is Pleurisy. ( Typically it follows Phnemonia)Now for those of you have had it before, I feel for you, and those of you that haven't feel blessed and pray that you never do! The only thing I can compare it to was a few years ago I ended up with a collapsed lung and it feels pretty similar to that.
But on the bright side it is healing! I spend a lot of time with a moist heat pad and warmth and Advil has become my new best friend. (Though am down to two of them every four hours)Yeah!!
Thru it all I have found that I can still stand and quilt with out it bothering a whole lot. Thank goodness or I think I would be going CRAZY not doing anything. I still get pretty tired easily but can deal with that too.

On another note I am pretty EXCITED I have had one of our Local Quilt Store's call and offer me a job!! Now I know I really don't need one, but I am thinking I will, just because I miss working in a fabric store. I have asked the hubby what he thinks and he hasn't really answered me one way or the other so am not totally sure what that means. But will see what the next couple of weeks brings.

Well I better get this posted. I hope this finds all healthy and keeping busy or at least able to put a few stitches together. Take Care and Have a WONDERFUL rest of the WEEK!!

Yes I am still here.......Puppies and Quilts.....

Last week I received a nasty Cold again..... So I was told take bunches of vitamin C So how much enough??? Well I am taking 1000 mg but still am fighting the lingering cold......YUCK.....

As many of you know we had to put Shadow our dog down here a few weeks ago. She was a White and Brown Springer Spaniel Mix.
Well last July my oldest Son brought Sierra who is a German Shepherd /Austalian Shepherd Mix. I tried VERY VERY hard not to like her! Now, when I say that it is not because I don't like animals it's the complete opposite! I tend to get way "too" attatched. Well, once again Yep! "too" attatched so I took her to get her shots and all the stuff you do. Well, after we had to put Shadow done I was mad at the world and said that if we have to keep this one tied up she is gone!! Well for some reason she must of got the message because we haven't tied her up since and she is yet to leave. But, to back up a bit while she was in the tied up bit she had a MALE visitor! Yep now she is a momma to "6"... he as far as we can see (the little amount of time he was her) was black with blue specks on his chest so we are assuming Blue Heeler. Well, all of them look like either Sierra or the Dad except one...... You explain this one to me... The other one is mostly white and has markings like Shadow. urgh....................help me here! I said NO MORE DOGS!! I must stick to this!! well maybe........
well hopefully I can get my (NO's) together as these little guys/girls grow.

Anyways, Thanks for letting me rave and moan there.... I have been quilting some more Project Warmth Quilts in between coughing spirts. I have tried many times to download #52 but for some reason the camera has decided it will stay where it is. So will have to post that one at a later time.
Project warmth #53. I thought this one here was just darling! It has little four patch blocks in it. This one I chose to do the Alpine Star design,I really like this design to me it is a really elegant design but yet doesn't override the quilt either.

The this one is a puppy and kitty one. I have had a panto of a dog amd bone with swirlies in it and had yet to use it, so thought this would be the perfect one to try it on.

I have #55 and #56 ready to take pictures but will post them in another post. Am also loading two twin bug jar quilts so am heading down there to finish them up.

I also have 6 friendship blocks to get caught up on and one of these days I need to get back to my Farmers Wife blocks I have been kind of letting them slide lately too. The quilting is calling me...((giggle giggle)) that tand then the warmer weather is so inviting to sit out on the deck and enjoy....
