I have a New Kenmore 385.19, and a Viking 400, a Singer Treadle, a Featherweight. and a Viking Ruby. In February 2010 I purchased an APQS Longarm , and Love everyone of them. A Quilty Weekend

With our cold and snowy weekend I managed to get quite a bit accomplished.
The first being the Table Runner for my mother. I had previously made her a couple of placemats and just finished the binding on this table runner to match those.
Here are the the matching placemats I had posted earlier.

Then I had fell behind in my Farmers Wife Blocks (or what I think is behind-really it's a go at your own pace) so have gotten my 3" blocks all caught up so wanted to post them. I have to admitt a couple of them were pretty interesting paperpiecing with so many "tiny" pieces. Now will have to get busy with my 4" ones.

Block # 28 Duck and Ducklings

Block #32 Farmers Daughter
Block #33 Farmers Puzzle
Block #34 Flock
Block #35 Flower Basket
Block #36 Flower Garden (this one I ended up having to do 2 inset seams-they are really getting easier to do)

Yesterday afternoon I threw this Project Warmth Quilt on the LA and quilted it. I used a double feather plume for the design. It was only 48" square so went really quick. I so love doing feathers!

Favorites Friday

Favorites Friday...
Wow! Friday Again Already! Where did the week go.........After yesterdays wonderful celebration of Thanksgiving how does one beat that?
Hmmm..............
This week, when It comes to favorites Friday I thought to myself :

"What do you like to quilt with the most?" So this is where I came up with my Favorite for this Friday.
One of my Favorites would be horses and what better for me to use in quilting. To me they are majestic, strong and yet beautiful, whether in pictures, quilting, or even when we go out to saddle and ride.
So today I share some past quilting that involves this majestic animal in my eyes.
This is actually a quilt my mom made us and gave to us last year for Christmas. I just adore it.

This is a wallhanging that I made last year for my husband and though you can't see them I had added his brands in all four corners.
This is one of the chairs I recovered. (With the left over fabric I used to make reversible placemats which is just below .)
One of 6 reversible placemats (the reverse side matches the chair up above) (This is also one of my most favorite horse fabrics)
This table topper/wall hanging I call "Not so Oriental Beauty" the orignal pattern was done in Oriental fabrics and thus was called "Oriental Beauty" from Aqs Magazine
This is a Center Stage Table Topper pattern with an additional border added on with "My favorite Fabric" again
"Hee hee" again the fabric" made into a backpack purse(also made a matching checkbook/wallet
A Couch throw, that I actually just was doing to see how quilting with Fleece would be. (Bright orange fleece on the backside)

(I must apologize for the blurriness of this)This is a wallhanging that I ended up making 5 of because it was so well liked. I fussy cut the center horses and then paperpieced the surrounding feathered star. The fabric it is laying on the fabric that was used for the backing. (I like to make things reversible)
This is one of a set, and is made out of suede

This is actually one of the first things I quilted and did prairie points with. This is one of six placemats and also made a matching Table cover and napkin set, with coasters done i the tan horseshoe material.
Wowser!! I Guess I better stop... I knew I had bunches of horse things but wow!...... You should see the shelf of horse fabrics that are waiting to be made and many more made but think they will shut me down if I add more pictures.
YEP! Horses definetly a Favorite.......................
Be sure and hop on over to Mrs.P and check out the rest of Everybodies Favorites. And may you have a Wonderful Week!

More of my Farmers Wife Blocks & more....

I just really like this Farmers Wife Sampler brought to us by Laurie Aaron Hird. You must really check out her site. She will be having a new book come out in 2011 and it is a "Must Have" by me. Anyways, I have completed a couple more blocks of the 3" variety. I am doing one in 3" paperpieced 30's prints and also am doing one in 4" scrappy and paperpieced. These ones here are Blocks #19 and Block #20 of the 3" done in 30's fabrics. The 4" will catch up soon. The #20 I have done 2 of simply because at first I didn't like the first one I did so proceeded to do another. Then After completing them I decided I liked both so now I guess my quilt will 112 blocks or maybe will use the extra's for mug rugs or candle rugs or?.......
#20 Churn dash
another #20 Churndash

#19 Checkerboard
I hope to work another yet today but will see what the day brings. The boys(2- 13 year olds) will be arriving home early and have promised to work on pies and all the yummies for tomorrow. One of the twins (Carl) you never heard this from me! absolutely "LOVES" Pies. Both eating and making them too. Anyhoo....
A couple of years ago Carl asked me once if we could make a pie, now this is almost a daily request. I decided he was more than old enough and many don't make homemade crust and ect so thought he definetly needed to learn . Since, we have made him our celebration pie maker(which to him now is every day), and even his brother brags him up. (that is pretty good in the brother department..at least this mom thinks so) Anyways he has chosen Blueberry, Pumpkin, and Fresh Strawberry to make this afternoon. Maybe I can sneak some pictures in.. (Remember in the school department the need for machoism is strong). He is an excellent pie maker and his cheescakes(though they are from a box) are scruptious too. It's just making me hungry for them talking about them.
Well, I better get moving and may you all have a Beautiful, and Wonderful Thanksgiving wherever you may be.

Design Wall Monday

Wow!!Is it Monday Already??
It seems everything lately is kind of caterbosch! I know that isn't even a word but sometimes that is how my head feels. (and it has become "my" new word) Hee hee
I am having a hard time keeping on one thing and that is "really strange" for me. I normally have to finish one thing before going on another.
Which leads me to todays post. On my design wall I have three different things going, and have been working on them all (actually there was another and couldn't get it in the picture). My husband came down to where I was sewing a few times and his remarks are" Oh something different now?", "What's this one?", " and the next time:What are you doing-What happened to the last one?" So I guess maybe he was a little confused too, as to what was going on.LOL
Here is my design wall this morning.

"Checkerboard" which is # 20 of my 3" paperpieced Farmers Wife Blocks that I am doing in 30's fabrics(My 4" scrappy one hasn't gotten this far yet....hee hee)

This again is my "Winter Snoman quilt, It is back on the wall(and maybe there for awhile). I cut some sashing and put in a cornerstone(which isn't showing up really well-but is actually the color of one of the lighter blues in the block)The sashing is actually a dark blue with a couple of different blues mixed in that go with theblocks. BUT.... I am trying to decide if it's really what I want to do with it.. So while you're here feel free to give your opinions on this sashing and cornerstones.

Then this fell in my lap. Ok well actually it has been in a drawer in one of my fabric dressers for some time and so thought, well maybe I will just sew some blocks together. Why?? Well it's not because I don't have other things I should be doing and wanting to finish up, so I really don't know why....
Hmmm...................
Well I hope this hasn't been to strange and mixed up, But May your MONDAY and the Rest of the week be full of peace, fun and to all
Happy Thanksgiving and may you have a Very Blessed Day wherever you and yours may be!!

Saturn...Stars... and Beyond.... & More

When I first seen this quilt that is exactly what I thought: Beyond into Outerspace, It just kept needing to be quilted in an Space Design with stars and planets, so walaa.... that is how it was done.
This is my Project Warmth #39 That I have Quilted

Close up of Saturn

Another Close up of Saturn (yep, I need to trim the thread and ect....)
The back ( I love to look at the back of quilts-It's like they have a story of their own.....)

The other day I had taken these two wallhanging with me and a gal seen them and decided she wanted them. So I quickly snapped some pictures. (sorry they're not the best pictures) They are both the same design just reversed the Silouette's and did some different things here and there. They are a pattern designed by Christine Bump be sure and check out her site, though she has passed away her husband and friend have kept her site up and running and offer her wonderful patterns for sale.
Quilted with Metallic thread, with the silhoutte itself quilted in Black (Before LA aka:longarm)
This one was quilted with a varigated king Tut thread and the silhoutte design iteslf quilted in black(quilted with my Kenmore machine before LA aka:longarm)
What a way to spend a cold (20* degree Saturday) on a quilting machine quilting and sipping a warm cup of coffee/hot chocolate. May your day be "Warm" and your Weekend special.......... Happy Quilting!
