Calves, Spring Beauty, Quilts and More

Okay.......What a Week! 4/15

It's been one of those weeks were you start out slow, end up running, onto a roller coaster, and then you swirl wondering when the calm will take affect........
I would like you to meet Misty, the newest addition to our lives.

1 Week old (Life is Good)

She came into the world and then her momma meant some complications so she was left mommyless.

Day 2 (not feeling so well)

Day 3 brought her not doing well at all, we were not sure that she was going to survive the next hour let alone the night. We did all we could think of and then called a friend, he recommended an anti toxin. An noon on Sunday we gave the shot, by 5pm she started to lift her head. At 8pm the Carl (one of the twins) came out of the house down to where she was, she got up and followed and chased him like the world was new, bright and hers for the taking.......Bill and I just shook our heads in disbelief. Now she is thinking my flowers are hers to feast upon........We WILL have words on this!!!!!

To be honest, I don't give up easy, but at 3 I figured we were fighting a losing battle, my heart just broke from seeing her laid out and nothing more could be done. Such is life with it's many twist and turns......

I loaded this quilt on the long arm and is the second quilt I have quilted on my machine. It was quite fun to do. It is a project warmth quilt, and I was really happy how the quilting turned out and the tension was super.

Then I loaded this one and did it all freehand I really enjoyed quilting this one. It is also a
project warmth quilt. I finished putting the binding on and will return it this Tuesday.

On Monday we lost a very dear friend of ours Tony Howie, due to a accident at work. He was only 32 and the shock is yet something beyond comprehension. I just keep running thru my head that there is a reason for everything and it's not always for us to understand, he will be sorely missed. He always had a kind word, and never judged, or complained. Forever in our memories.................

I could not end this post without sharing some of our Spring beauty. The tree is our Apricot tree in the backyard. It always blooms beautifully, but we have only been graced with 1 apricot since we moved here. The weather is just to cold at the wrong time, it seems to always freeze right when it blooms. Could it be possible to make it this year? hmmmmm.......

I love these flowers! They are always the first to appear and the late snows and cold weather don't seem to give them any ill effects.
Don't mind the grass in them I am in definite need of some flower bed management yet this Spring.

Well, I am headed out to check on baby, then will start some much needed weeding and then want to get the rototiller working on the garden. Hopefully I will be able to have time to get another quilt on the long arm, I brought 3 more home from the Guild for project warmth so have 4 now to do. Am anxious to try out some more designs. Plus, I am hoping to get my block of the week done from Jen's from Cre8tive Quilter.
I have also been trying to do the shop hop that is going on with our Quilt shops. Will try and get some pictures posted yet this week, this has been my first one and it has been quite fun. I was able to go to a couple of the shops I had never been to, so have really enjoyed it.
Until next time may your days be filled with sunshine and your dreams come true............
